You made it! Welcome.

“Grant, you used to be a terrible writer!” — what I hope I can honestly tell myself a year from now.

A life full of curiosity and wonder is a fun life—here I share what fascinates me.

I write about what I’m curious about with a lens toward lifelong learning. I write about personal experiences, stories of other people and reflect on them to learn.

Every year I want to look back and say I used to be a worse writer, jaw hanging considering the distance I’ve traveled and eyes wide considering the exciting challenges that lie ahead; challenges I seek out to learn something that makes me better at helping others grow.

I generally publish 5-10 minute reads on the themes of curiosity, thinking and getting better. Some of my most popular posts are Einstein: What is Genius?, Thank You for the Pressure, and Better Buffers. I love hearing from readers — please feel free to send me a message (@grant_nice on Twitter) and let me know what you think of the blog.

A little more about me…

I was born and raised in central Indiana and migrated south to Spanish Fort, Alabama in 2016. I'm a husband, eager Purdue fan, golfer, tennis player, engineer, outdoorsman, ballroom dancer, singer, avid reader and Buffett/Munger-style investor. I’m a full-time chemical engineer and in August of 2020, I founded Birch Bark Capital, an alternative asset management firm.

Your time is valuable. Thank you for choosing to spend time here.
